Dr. Fernando Aguirre is a lawyer graduated from the State University of La Paz, Bolivia and has a degree in Law (Public International Law) from the University of Oxford. Lawyer partner of Bufete Aguirre Soc.Civ., A law firm established in 1940.
He has been a professor of Public International Law at the Diplomatic Academy of Bolivia; Professor of Introduction to Law at the Faculty of Economics and Diplomatic Law, Arbitration and Alternative Means of Conflict Resolution in the Master’s Degree at the Faculty of Law of the Bolivian Catholic University.
He is a registered arbitrator in the Conciliation and Arbitration Centers of the National Chamber of Commerce and the National Chamber of Hydrocarbons of Bolivia. He was an arbiter inscribed in the ICSID lists until the denunciation by Bolivia of the Washington Convention. He has been president and arbitrator in national and international arbitration cases in Bolivia and regularly advises clients in commercial and investment arbitration. Member of the International Chamber of Commerce, member of the Latin American arbitration group of the CCI and member of the Latin American Arbitration Association, he has participated in various panels in national and international events on the subject and has contributed to several publications specialized in arbitration.
