Lawyer. Master in Law from the University of Yale, United States, with a Law Degree from the Faculty of Law of the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru. Doctor Honoris Causa by Continental University (Peru, 2012). Exercise in the areas of National and International Arbitration, Competition Law, Economic Regulation, Consumer Protection, Property, Extracontractual Civil Liability, Contracts and International Trade. He has chaired the Technical Commission that drafted the Law of Arbitration of Peru, in addition to presiding over the Tribunal of the National Institute for the Defense of Competition and Protection of Intellectual Property -INDECOPI, among other management positions. He was president for three periods of the Board of Directors of the Latin American and Caribbean Association of Law and Economics – ALACDE.
Professor of Competition Law, Civil Law, Economic Analysis of Law, Oral Litigation, Film and Law and Arbitration at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. Visiting Professor of the Higher School of Economics and Business of El Salvador. He has been Visiting Professor of Competition Law in the Master of Business Law at Torcuato di Tella University, Buenos Aires, Argentina. Author of several books and articles in the areas of Arbitration, Economic Analysis of Law, Civil Law, Regulation and Free Competition.
He has participated as an arbitrator in more than 300 arbitrations including cases administered by the International Court of Arbitration of the Paris International Chamber of Commerce (CCI), by the International Center for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), by the Arbitration Center of the Chamber of Commerce of Lima, the Inter-American Commercial Arbitration Commission (CIAC), the Conciliation and Arbitration Center of Panama, the Conciliation Center of the Bar Association, and “ad hoc” arbitrations. President of the Technical Commission of the Ministry of Justice for the revision of the General Law of Arbitration No. 26572 that culminated with the publication of the new Law of Arbitration of Peru, Legislative Decree 1071.
